Throughout the Easter weekend, Pierfrancesco Costagliola’s Grand Soleil 40 Performance “Yankee R” triumphed in the waters of Porto Santo Stefano, winning in the IRC Over All category and in class 1, and achieving a prestigious second place in ORC over all and in ORC class 1 at Pasquavela. This event, crucial in the spring sailing calendar, was characterized by particularly challenging marine weather conditions, with strong winds and heavy seas that elevated the level of competition.

On Saturday, extreme conditions forced the committee to cancel the regatta, with winds blowing from the Southeast at over 35 knots. However, on Sunday, the conditions allowed for the execution of two spectacular races, with winds from the South / Southeast steady at 25 knots and gusts up to 30 knots. The committee set up a 13-mile race course in the Gulf of Porto Santo Stefano, allowing the fleet to demonstrate their speed and skill on a well-articulated course, spectacularly sailed twice consecutively. On Monday, the last trial presented different challenges with weak wind starting from 150 degrees, which subsequently became inconsistent, with significant wind shifts on a course of about 11 miles. Despite these difficulties, the Grand Soleil 40 Performance “Yankee R” once again demonstrated the exceptional synergy between design, performance, and tactical ability, elements that Cantiere del Pardo has always valued in its fifty years of nautical excellence.
