FROM ICONIC MODELS TO TIMELESS SUCCESSES
Cantiere del Pardo entrusted Cino Ricci to produce a prototype of GS 34, a yacht to participate in important regattas, by 1982 more than 200 samples of the GS 34 were in production.
From here onwards the production of other models started to take place and a real Grand Soleil product ‘range’ emerges, including GS 35, GS 41, and then the legendary GS 39 and the line of boats designed by Alain Jezequel GS 35/343/39/46).
Cantiere del Pardo has a complete range of models ranging from GS 343 to GS 52 and the “German Frers” era opens, which designs the most iconic models of all time (GS 42 / GS 45 / GS 52) nicknamed “Spaghetti Swan” because of their clear resemblance to the cousins of the well-known Finnish shipyard. Distinguishing a Swan 53 from a GS 52 was really very difficult.
The GS40 represents a leap into the future. This new model designed by Paperini (Duck design) will definitely break the ties with the past and its hull lines are the proof.
Even though the inclinations of the transom suggest a classic line deriving from the old hulls, the typical bow thrusts are missing and the modern hull is equipped with vertical bow.
The GS 40 is a great success because of its dual purpose, it can win regattas (IMS) and allows owners to enjoy comfortable summer sailing, a decidedly modern concept that shipyards still pursue today.
