GRAND SOLEIL VINTAGE CUP 2024
The Grand Soleil Vintage Cup gave two beautiful sunny days and ideal breeze. On Saturday, the very light wind at the start, combined with a counter current, put part of the fleet in difficulty, breaking it into two groups. The first group managed to slip away and enter the zone of greatest pressure, while the second had to fight for a long time to leave. To give all the boats time to finish the race, the committee decided to shorten the course and close it at mark number 3.
On Sunday, the start took place on time with a beautiful breeze spread over the start line and across the course. A thermal of 10-14 knots accompanied all the boats from start to finish, allowing a perfect alignment on the starting line and giving rise to several exciting engagements up to the finish line. There were real “match races” under colored gennakers between competitors and boats of the same model.
The overall results saw the triumph of the GS50 ELCA crew, who won the first place with owner Naibo Carlo. In second place was the GS45 HIC SUNT LEONES by Lazzaretto Francesco. Finally, the third place was obtained by Cabrini Roberto with his GS42 ELISIR, completing the podium.
A great success for the Grand Soleil Vintage Cup, the event dedicated to boats with projects before 2000 of Cantiere del Pardo. Two days of perfect and enviable conditions, beautiful boats and smiling crews characterized the event reserved for the oldest Grand Soleil Yachts models.
The festivities began on Friday evening with an opening aperitif, continued on Saturday evening with a dinner accompanied by “vintage” music, and culminated on Sunday evening with the award ceremony and closing celebrations on the terrace overlooking the sea of Bris in Portopiccolo. Here the first images of the exciting event organized by the Diporto Nautico Sistiana in collaboration with the Yacht Club Porto Piccolo, held in the scenery of the Sistiana Bay.
